Leadership Starts from the Group Up
The best information I get does not come from reports or dashboards. It comes from walking the floor, sitting with the team, and actually listening.
Leadership that stays behind closed doors eventually loses its grip on reality. You start making decisions based on what you think is happening rather than what is the gap between the two can be significant.
For me, being present is not a management style. It is how you stay relevant and effective. You understand what your people are dealing with, where the friction is, what customers are actually saying. That context greatly changes how you lead.
